Sal's Bench - Making it quickly out of construction lumber"

This is the final picture taken by Sal to show his new bench installed and already busy.
What he set out to do is to use construction timbers to make a rigid garage bench.

Most of the effort was at the Kapex cutting 2 x 4's to length.

Elena is here and gives Sal a hand making the workbench.

Rather than to use a single 2 x 4 or even a 4 x 4, he opted to use two 2 x 4's per leg and glue and screw them at right angles to each other.

Sal setup the two new Festool T-3 Lithium Ion cordless drill/drivers for pre-drilling the hole and for driving the long screws home. They worked faultlessly in this construction lumber.

With the legs done, Sal and Elena start piecing together two frames that will serve as top and middle supports.

Sal places the top frame into the legs and glues and screws them.

With both frames solidly in place, Sal checks the rigidity and strength of the structure.   It  passes with flying colors.

He has placed the plywood top on but not fastened it — it still has to be hoisted out of the shop and onto his car.

He gets an assist from son-in-law....who also owns a truck.

A perfect time for such a truck and a son-in-law who carefully straps the bench in the truck.
Making such a simple project is a fun test of the shop not to mention our skills.
