Sal is at the router table with two table tops showing. The smaller one is the CMT router table top that I have been using for the past three years. The larger top underneath is a relatively new product from Woodpeckers. It was made for use with the Festool MFT. I would mount it in one of my MFT's, but I need them just the way they are. I did think it might be real nice to mount this larger top on the CMT router cabinet. |

The CMT
router table top was mounted to the cabinet by a dozen or so bolts that mated with
knock-down hardware in the cabinet itself.

Having drilled a through hole for the bolt, Sal now countersinks the hole so that the bolt head will not be above the table top. |

With one bolt started, he uses a T-wrench to help locate the hole for the next one. One by one, Sal gets them all lined up and fastened and the new table top is in position. |
And what makes a router tabletop great? A great fence of course. Sal opens the 2nd Woodpecker box. |

And another box. I will never complain when a product is double boxed. I don't like stuff that is messed up during shipping. This fence is clearly all together and waiting for Sal to figure things out. |
|
He takes a minute to read the instructions. |

. There are a few steps to take, but all-in-all the instructions lead the way and the assembly goes together smoothly. |
We did find that the fence was slanted back about a degree or so. We simply added a thin washer on the mounting bolts, and it now is perfectly square. |

He now uses a steel straight edge to check the alignment of the two fence halves it is perfect. |
He drops into the cutout, the Woodpecker Quick Lift that has been in use for a couple of
years now. In it is the Porter Cable 7518 router. It is heavy but the quick lift handles
it well.

It takes only a few seconds to adjust the elevation adjustment screws. Between the large, very level router table top and the lift plate, this will be a joy to run wood through no catches, just smooth travel of the work piece. |
